Meet the Owner

Hello all,

My name is Josh Kolbe. I started Matrix J in 2001 after running the business as a hobby for a couple years under the name Kolbe Computing. Prior to, and within some of that time, I worked within the education sector as an Interim Technology Coordinator for Trimble Local Schools in Glouster, Ohio. After that I remained close to education by working at ACEnet (The Appalachian Center for Economic Networks), a non-profit organization in Athens, Ohio, in the Tech Ventures division.

ACEnet had developed a curriculum called SET (Student Entrepreneurship Training) for high school students to learn how to develop a business. Along with the curriculum, ACEnet provided the member schools with computer labs dedicated to the use of the program. My job was to visit the schools and maintain those labs. Those two former jobs of mine were key to the start of my business.

As Kolbe Computing I was doing computer repair for friends and colleagues but I wanted my business to provide so much more to the community. I saw an extreme need for assistance within the area schools and wanted to expand myself to provide that assistance. Thus was born Matrix J.

I felt the name change was necessary to represent this shift in the overall structure and I made the word “Technologies” plural to imply the multi-faceted array of services we currently provide and are continuing to add and enhance. I thoroughly enjoy running this business and I feel that comes through to all my clients because I have very good relationships with them and I strive to do what I can to keep raising that bar even higher.

Special thanks go out to everyone who has brought us this far and to quote a famous cliché: “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”
